During the development of the Samsonite Essens, BPO performed simulations to investigate different design directions and to substantiate the optimal technical choice.

The Essens is equipped with a unique edge construction and sealing, which limits the ingress of water. This seal also ensures an exceptionally strong case. A removable packing box is also attached to the inside of each shell. The designs for both functionalities have been examined by means of FEM simulations for the risk of kinking and bending under load. Thanks to this research, BPO has been able to provide advice on geometry, among other things.

Essens shells are made from at least 70% recycled polypropylene from household waste. The aesthetic design of the bowls is unique. Before the suitcase has to pass Samsonite's extensive drop and impact tests, BPO simulated and analysed the effect of the material use and design. Based on this, a choice was made from different design options and advice was given to increase the quality of weak points in the case.

The result is a lightweight, high-quality suitcase that is made partly from recycled material and lasts a long time. The three-point lock that has been used in previous Samsonite models has proven its effectiveness and also ensures optimum safety with the Essens. If the wheels wear out over time, it is possible to replace them. This way you can continue to transport your luggage comfortably even after many kilometers of walking.
